Oh, I missed the Grammys again?
You may sense the hint of sarcasm in my title…..but really.
I do read the summaries the following morning. Some great news, lots of trash, and tonnes of foolishness.
Dave Grohl’s little speech sparked internal conflict, because he is right in many ways. This past week had been a musical awakening for me as I have put a lot of time in to playing the piano and singing, the old fashioned way. It feels good, it feels right, especially given I am hunkered down in a studio writing music on a computer most days of the week. Music is usually most successful in the artistic sense when done with honest intentions; in a humble yet functional space with a bunch of close friends and very little editing or surgery. Having said that, to put his nose up in the air and call out electronic music (right before doing a ‘mashup with Deadmau5 might I add) is super lame and outs him as a geezer. I’m sure there are people think his ‘rock and roll music’ is equally as hollow as the electronic music he was referring to. Main point- not sure riding up on your high horse to get your trophy was the best idea Dave, with all due respect.
In other news, I want to get that new Arturia analogue synth. My guess is the 10 moog audio in Montreal has ordered have been spoken for. Only one way to find out I guess.
Happy interneting.
